Cross River is a hamlet in the town of Lewisboro. The town is comprised of Cross River, South Salem and Goldens Bridge. The hamlet derives its name due to its site on the banks of the Cross River stream. This area was home to farms, a hat factory, a comb factory and two or three shops prior to 1825. The introduction of the railroad station at Katonah changed this
Today, Cross River is home to a burgeoning shopping center and the area’s middle and high school. The area is mainly residential and the site of Ward Pound Ridge Reservation. The Reservation is the largest park in Westchester County’s Parks system. It consists of 35 miles of trails for hiking and cross country skiing. Many families camp here and take advantage of The Trailside Nature Museum located on the grounds.
